Love Lane Brewery, Home Bargains Beer & The Truth Behind the Headlines

Love Lane Brewery has become one of the most talked-about names in UK beer over the last year, especially because of its connection to Home Bargains, the return of the Higsons name, and plenty of strong opinions flying around online.

Rather than repeating rumours or pub chat, I wanted to do something different.
This Behind The Brewer feature is about facts, not assumptions. I spoke directly to the people running the brewery today, looked at what’s actually being brewed, and followed the story from collapse to comeback.
This post covers both parts of the Love Lane Behind The Brewer series.
🎥 Part 1 – Love Lane Brewery EXPOSED: The Truth Behind Home Bargains Beer
In the first episode, I sit down with Love Lane Brewery and dig into the full story behind the brand.
We cover:
The collapse and restart of Love Lane Brewery
How Higsons fits into the modern business
The role of TJ Morris and Home Bargains
Licensing, brewing challenges, and rebuilding trust
Why Love Lane beer appears in Home Bargains at the prices it does
The reality of brewing cask, keg, and canned beer at scale
This episode sets the foundation and clears up a lot of misconceptions about who brews what, and why the brewery operates the way it does today.

🎥 Part 2 – Love Lane Brewery EXPOSED: Viewer Questions Answered
After Part 1 went live, a lot of smart questions came in from viewers who are actually drinking the beer.
Rather than guessing, I took those questions straight back to Love Lane and got direct answers from the man running operations.
In Part 2, we cover:
How Love Lane plans to grow margins without abandoning value
Why canned beer stays exclusive to Home Bargains
The long-term focus on pubs, cask, and keg across Merseyside
Why beers like Blackbird Stout rotate rather than disappear
What recent SIBA Gold medals actually mean for the brewery
This follow-up fills in the gaps and addresses the biggest questions left in the comments.

Why This Behind The Brewer Matters
Love Lane Brewery is a good example of how complicated modern brewing can be. Supermarket beer, heritage brands, pub trade growth, and online noise all collide very quickly.
This series isn’t about hype or hit pieces. It’s about understanding how a brewery actually works, hearing directly from the people involved, and letting viewers make their own minds up based on facts.
If you’ve got more questions about Love Lane, Higsons, or Home Bargains beer, drop them in the comments on the videos and I’ll take them straight back to the brewer.
