Can Alcohol Free Beer Actually Be Good?

Right then. Let’s be honest. I’ve always said Alcohol Free beer tastes like someone farted into a pint of cola and thought, “That’ll do.”
But now… I’m giving it a fair shot.

Not because I’ve lost my mind. But because I’ve got a bloody good reason — my daughter’s expecting her first baby (my first grandchild) this September. Her partner doesn’t drive, so I’m the emergency driver for the birth and the Braxton Hicks.
That means I need to go sober for a while — August, September, maybe October. And if I’m going dry, I want something in my glass that still tastes like beer, not sad fizzy water.
Enter: The New Series
I’m launching a brand new mini-series called “Alcohol Free & Honest.”
No preaching. No pretending.Just honest, entertaining reviews from someone who normally drinks 8% DIPAs for breakfast and finishes the night on 15% barrel-aged imperial stouts for dessert.
I’ll be trying Alcohol Free beers from across the UK to see if any of them can actually impress. And I won’t hold back.
Beers Are Already On the Way
A few brave (and generous) breweries have already agreed to send me their Alcohol Free beers to try out — starting with Brulo, who’ve kicked things off in style. More are on the way, and the first episode drops soon.
UPDATE: since publishing this post, another brewery has also agreed to send some beers over for my honest reviewing mouth - let's hear it for Lakedown Brewing as well!
UPDATE: since updating you yesterday I have another update, and I wanted to update you about the update as quickly as I could, as part of an update. Here's the update: Another brewery, UNLTD, has been in touch with me and requested my address to send their AF beers to. So, we have a total of 3 breweries (as of this updated update) to build the series on.
I’ll be reviewing them on my YouTube channel, but also talking about them on the podcast and shouting them out on socials.
Sober October? Dry January? This Is for You Too.
If you're planning to give up the booze for Sober October or Dry January and still want something worth drinking — this series might save your tastebuds.
If not… you’ll at least get to watch me suffer.
