Beer Views with The Hopper: Bringing local beer stories to Bro Radio

I’m pleased to say I’ve started writing regular beer commentary for Bro Radio, covering local breweries, pubs, and the wider beer industry across Barry, the Vale of Glamorgan, and South Wales.
Bro Radio has long played an important role in telling local stories, and beer is very much part of that picture. From new independent breweries setting up locally, to pubs adapting to changing drinking habits, beer culture reflects what’s happening in our communities. It’s not just about what’s in the glass, but the people behind it and why it matters.
My pieces for Bro Radio will appear under the column title Beer Views with The Hopper. The focus is on clear, honest commentary rather than hype or press releases. Some articles will explore new and existing breweries, others will look at challenges facing pubs, changing consumer habits, or ongoing debates within the UK beer world.
I won’t be appearing on air. Writing suits me far better and allows stories to be shared, revisited, and discussed at people’s own pace. It also gives Bro Radio readers something slightly different. Beer coverage that adds context and opinion without shouting for attention.
Although many people know me through my YouTube work as The Hopper Reviews, this written column is a natural extension of what I already do. Thoughtful beer commentary, rooted locally, but aware of the bigger picture.
I’m grateful to the Bro Radio team for giving me the space to contribute and I’m looking forward to building this into a regular feature over the coming months.
If you’ve got views on local beer, pubs, or issues you think are worth covering, I’m always interested to hear them.
