Rebellion Beer Co moves to employee-owned future with EOT transfer
Rebellion Beer Company, at Bencombe Farm in Marlow Bottom, Buckinghamshire, has completed its transfer to an Employee Ownership Trust, safeguarding the brewery’s future at its current site. Founders Tim Coombes and Mark Gloyens, who started the business in 1993, will stay involved as long‑standing staff begin taking over day‑to‑day management. The EOT aims to provide continuity for staff and local customers and to maintain Rebellion’s ethos and community spirit. As part of the transition, the company plans a crowdfunding offer in early 2027 to let supporters invest in the business and help it grow. Tim Coombes said the move to employee ownership should guard the future, with more than 75 jobs safe in Marlow. The announcement follows Molson Coors’ closure of Sharp’s Brewery in Cornwall, with 40 local jobs lost, and Marston’s Burton brewery at risk of closure with 300 jobs at stake. Source: Beer Today
