Go Sober In Style This Dry January: My Sentia Spirits Review

If you’re staring down the barrel of Dry January and thinking, “Here we go… thirty-one days of orange squash and self-loathing,” then calm yourself, because I’ve found something that actually makes being sober feel, dare I say it, stylish.

It’s called Sentia Spirits, and no, it’s not another sad alcohol-free gin trying to convince you that juniper alone is enough to replace a good drink. Sentia is something very different. This is a functional alcohol-free spirit designed by actual neuroscientists. Not “influencer neuroscientists”. Real ones. White coats, labs, the works.

Their goal? Create a booze-free drink that helps humans unwind, relax, and connect in social situations without the alcohol. Basically, a drink that makes you feel human at a party without waking up the next day feeling like you’ve been rolled down a hill in a wheelie bin.

What Even Is Sentia?

Sentia is built around enhancing your brain’s naturally occurring GABA system. GABA is the neurotransmitter that chills you out and helps you settle socially, and Sentia’s blend of botanicals is designed to support that natural process.

There are three versions:

  • Gold – Uplift and balance

  • Black – Focus and drive

  • Red – Relax and unwind

Each one has its own cocktail serves, and they’re surprisingly classy. If you want an alcohol-free drink that feels grown-up, not childish, this is the one.

And if you’re curious already, here’s the link that keeps the lights on at Hopper HQ:

So… Does It Actually Do Anything?

The short answer: yes, in the way it’s designed to. This is not alcohol and it’s not pretending to be. You’re not going to get tipsy or silly from it. What you might notice is that gentle “ahh, I’ve landed” moment you get when your brain finally stops karate-kicking itself after a long day.

It’s a great option if you want the ritual of a cocktail, the flavour of a grown-up drink, and the relaxation without knocking back ABV.

And honestly, during Dry January, that’s a lifesaver.

Who’s It For?

  • Anyone doing Dry January

  • Anyone fed up with AF drinks tasting like fruit-flavoured disappointment

  • Anyone who wants a proper evening ritual without booze

  • The sober-curious

  • People who enjoy fancy cocktails without the chaos

  • Adults who like the idea of “functional drinks” but want one that actually tastes decent

The Flavour Test

Red tastes floral, rich, a bit herbal, and genuinely relaxing with tonic.

Black tastes spicy, earthy, and brilliant with ginger beer.

Gold tastes bright, citrusy, and ridiculously uplifting with lime soda.

This is easily the most premium alcohol-free spirit I’ve tried so far, and I’ve tried some absolute shockers.

Is It Worth It?

Look, it’s not cheap. But neither is waking up mid-January wondering why you blew your New Year’s resolutions by the 3rd.

Sentia feels like a treat. It feels intentional. It feels… well, functional.

Final Thoughts

Sentia is the first alcohol-free spirit I’ve tried that doesn’t feel like it’s apologising for existing. It’s confident, grown-up, and created with proper science behind it. If you’re looking to make Dry January a little less grim and a lot more “I’ve got my life together”, this is a cracking place to start.

Try it.

Mix it properly.

Sip like a civilised human.

And tell me what you think... ...good or bad, I’m all ears.

Hopper out!
