Four regional pubs shortlisted for CAMRA National Pub of the Year
CAMRA has named four regional winners as national Pub of the Year finalists for 2026. The contenders are Turks Head in St Helens, Countryman’s Inn in Hunton, the Cockpit in Chislehurst, and Tamworth Tap in Tamworth. Tamworth Tap, recently named Overall winner and Best Pub for Beer at the Great British Pub Awards, is aiming for a record fourth national crown. The overall Pub of the Year will be announced in January 2027, following CAMRA's August confirmation of 16 regional finalists. POTY coordinator Andrea Briers says she’s proud of the final four for their resilience and community spirit. Turks Head is a Tudor-style pub dating from the 1870s, with 14 handpulls, real ciders and a large whisky and gin bar, plus the Tower Lounge for live music and events. Countryman’s Inn is a community-owned free house serving Yorkshire beers, with a winter stove, a summer beer garden and bi-weekly charity quizzes. Tamworth Tap sits in a Tudor building with a historic courtyard beer terrace and eight hand-pulls, home to Tamworth Brewing Company, with cask and bottled beers. Cockpit in Chislehurst is the area’s first micropub, offering cask beers from small brewers nationwide, served from a cold room behind the bar; the space is shared with a florist but remains spacious with additional seating.
